To all BSR-1 Brakestay Rod owners:

We have determined that the BSR-1 Brakestay Rod Assembly, due to the large offset at the front mount, may have an inherent weakness with the possibility of causing failure under certain conditions. The problem arises from the large degree of offset between the front and rear mounting tabs. This could cause bending of the front mounting tab under heavy braking using the rear wheel only, leading to failure of the assembly.

We have alleviated the problem by changing the design of the front offset section to a dual, rather than the existing single, mounting tab system. During the next few weeks, we will be sending, free of charge, a new front mounting section to all existing BSR-1 owners, along with instructions for installing the upgrade. We appreciate your cooperation in this endeavor, and strongly recommend that all BSR-1 owners take advantage of this free upgrade.

If you bought your BSR-1 Brakestay Rod from us directly, no action is necessary on your part.  We will use our records to send upgrade parts to all our direct customers.  If you have a BSR-1 Brakestay Rod which was installed by a previous owner, or if you bought it from another source, such as eBay or another dealer, please contact us by clicking on the contact link on any page of our website http://www.cycle-istic.com and e-mailing us your (postal) mailing address, or call our toll-free number, also on the website.

All future production units will be manufactured using the stronger, upgraded mount. We are committed to providing our customers with not only the most attractive, but also with the safest and strongest possible products.

P.S. If your have moved since purchasing your BSR-1, please give us your new address.

We have FINALLY got it all sorted out and put together, and have started sending out the BSR-2 Brakestay mods. It will take a while to get them all out (several hundred) so if you don't get yours right away, don't panic. If you haven't received it by the end of November, however, give us a call.

Thanks for your patience.
