Not much longer now!
Your committee is closing in on a time and place for this MMXI. We're going to wait a little longer and then make the announcement.
Ya never know when it will be made so check back often!
Here's a small hint on the dates:
We will NOT be in conflict with any holiday this year. 8)
It's official!
June 5th - 9th.
Arrival day on the 5th and get away day on the 9th.
Stay tuned for Ground Zero location and camping and room information.
Your committee is currently working rate and location data. Once that is finalized the results will be posted on this link.
This is gonna be GREAT! 8)
Days work out perfect for me!
Those dates work for me look forward to seeing everyone, is it June yet?
I'm in date-wise. Just need to know where.

It's time to come NORTH!
Bring your warm jackets we're gathering in Turner Falls OK this year for MOOT MAG XI!
Well, it's not THAT far North, I guess the heavy coats can stay in TX.
The two Okies on the Committee managed to cajole the rest into visiting across the Red River this year.
Watch this space for announcements about lodging and activities we are planning in the area.
This is gonna' be GREAT.
Love it! Hopefully I can bring the Hammock Tent back :D

Shoot, Jim, this retirement "thing" you got going just isn't working out at all, man.
I am sincerely sorry that you are getting ripped off, bro.
Davis, Oklahoma = Smokin Joe's bbq. This is a good, good thing.
OK, folks, it is time to make reservations -- so you are assured a place to sleep. BudMan will have a trailer in the park, so we will gather around his place.
Inside Turner Falls Park: http://www.turnerfallspark.com/campsite/ campsites, RV sites, cabins
Motel type place in Davis: http://turnerfallsinn.com/
Lodge with huge rooms that accommodate large number of folk: (Smoked U, are you paying attention?) http://www.deer-creek-lodge.com/ Across the street from Turner Falls Inn listed above
If none of these look good to you, the Davis Chamber of Commerce has a long listing: http://www.davisok.org/Arbuckle_Lodging/
Shoot, I was hoping for San Antonio....
Floriduh that is... Yes, we have one too!
Looks like getting a cabin at the Turner Falls Inn is the way I'm going.
I'm going to need a room mate or two so we can split costs and have more money for the fun stuff.
If you are interested, let me know quickly because I am going to get this booked before they fill up that week.
Dave count me in.

Sent you a text Dave.
Whoever is in charge of planning rally points for our rides, eating or whatever, please keep in mind that Turner Falls Park charges an entry fee. Unless there is some way to get an extended pass while our event is going on, maybe it would be a good idea to rally outside the park and avoid getting charged every time for admittance.
Might be worth a phone call to the park to find out the specific details for this scenario.
Good points Dave.
I'm planing to ride the area the first weekend it is not snowing and check it out.
We'll probably have our safety and route briefings at a fueling spot prior to riding every day. That way everyone has the chance to top off prior to launch.

Is someone going to be on the steering committee for T shirts this go round? I know this takes time and you have to get a head count and monies in for it.
Have been negotiating with the principal, may be able to come Thursday night. If I leave riught after school i should be there around 8:30ish, depending on how much traffic I hit in Dallas. Looking at other routes around Dallas.

Yeah baby. That is great news, Jim. I'm glad you approached the "man" about getting free for this one.
I have reserved a two bedroom cabin at Turner Falls Inn for myself, Sue, Snoopy and Jerry Turner.
Brenda at the Inn tells me there are still quite a few cabins left to use for our time period and that they would give us a break if we can fill more cabins up with MOOT people.
I can't get any discount numbers until I can get a head count on how many people would think about this option and then commit to it in the very near future with deposits on reservations.
Visit the web site here: http://turnerfallsinn.com/
If you talk to Brenda, be sure to drop Magna Owners of Texas to her so she can gauge the interest.
Again, I need a quick head count to get into negotiations with the Inn.
Dave, I am a light sleeper and drive anyone in the room with me nuts, so I get a room to myself.
Count me in. I will wait until you have "cut the deal". Why would she negotiate if she already has a bunch of reservations??

She doesn't have a bunch of reservations (hungry to fill). Several single bedroom and a couple more two bedrooms are available yet. If I can tell her that I can bring "X" number of people in for that time period to fill up the cabins they have, our MOOT group can leverage a break in price. This is why the head count is important now, of course, before anyone outside our group rents ahead of us.
This is the same old game Greg has played with every other MOOTMaG Lodging facility.
Dave.
Put me down for a single cabin Wed thru Sat. I'll wait to reserve it until you think the time is right.
Rick Frankenberger
i'm not sure now where i will be staying will know more by the end of week
We will go for the 2bedroom native stone cabins. Wednesday thru Saturday night.
I will be in for one of these.
They have no Wifi which I need, I called them earlier and she is checking what place in town may have Wifi and will call me back. I might be able to use my phone as a Hotspot if coverage is in the area for the little work I need to do at night.
Room w/queen bed & fireplace
Room w/ (1) queen size bed, (1) full size roll-a-way bed, fireplace, kitchenette, bathroom w/shower and satellite television.
Let's keep this head count running.
I'll let Brenda know that there is definitely interest building. If anyone calls them about information, be sure to drop Magna Owners of Texas rally so it continues to peak her interest in us as a sale.
Here's Brenda's deal at the Turner Falls Inn.
She will discount the cabins 20% off posted prices. If you are military, she will also give you an additional price break.
This minute, there are 2- two bedroom cabins available and 5- one bedroom/2 bed cabins available. Our group can own the whole place at this point except for the big three story cabin which has been rented to another party already.
Start calling in your reservations now and make sure you mention Magna Owners of Texas rally. You will get charged a deposit now and she will adjust your balance when you check in to apply the promised discount.
Sweet!
I just discovered that no reservations are taken at the park. :-x I will be "camping" someplace outside the park as well.
Is anyone else planning to bring a camper or toy hauler?
How many "tenters" do we have?
While investigating a place for my trailer I will look at camp sites too.
I just reserved my cabin.

Dave what about retired military? I do have a military ID.

I'm in. Room reserved. Look forward to putting some faces to names!
Cabin reserved.

Jeff, this is indeed a good thing! Best BBQ I've had in a long time!
It is also a great place to park the Toy Hauler for MOOTMAG!
I'll be parked at Smokin' Joe's new BBQ and RV Park.
The location is not correct in Google yet because Joe just relocated to a larger facility immediately off I-35 on HY77.
Karen and I had Ribs and Pulled Pork BBQ there and were really impressed with the food.
RV sites with either 30 or 50 Amp service is $23.50 per night and tent camping will be $12.50 for MOOTMAG members. Joe has also assured me he will be happy to cater our Saturday meal as well.
We can order from the menu and be served either inside or out. I asked about inclement weather if we chose outside and he said not to worry about it, he could take care of us either way.
If you are going to tent camp or RV there be sure to mention MOOT.
I've never been to a MOOTMAG, so what were the last few like (I'll try to search previous postings)? Is it a some folks going on informal rides everyday and hanging out in the park or activities planned for specific times or both? Planning on the Turner Falls Inn but sadly will have to leave Friday at noon .... if I ride up the night of the 4th instead of the morning of the 5th (Weds), will there be anyone there the morning of the 5th and anything going on, or will most people show up the night of the 5th and into the weekend?
Can't speak for everyone else, Buster, but I will be coming from Austin with another MOOT member from San Antonio. It is a long haul, so we do not expect to be there before late afternoon.
I'll be getting in fairly early on Wed. the 5th.
(It's only a couple of hours from the house.)
There will be a mix of rides both "largish" groups and smaller rides as well.
Most of the rides will be shorter in duration this year due to the concentration of good roads in a small area.
I am trying to set up some non-ride activity this year at some of the local attractions. No definite word yet, on this, but soon.

I'm sure you will be thanked many times for what you are doing, but I want to thank you and the "planning team" for working through all of the logistics surrounding MootMAG #11.
Thanks Brandon!
The Oklahoma contingent aims to make this one "a MOOT MAG to remember."
BTW, Joe (of Smoking Joe's BBQ) has agreed to make arrangements for our closeout/awards dinner. I'll finalize plans with him as we get a better head count.
This is going to be great! 8)
Buster, MOOTMAGs are a loosely planned event, allowing you to jump in whenever/wherever you want. KSU times are posted for planned rides, but there are also impromptu rides that take place. Once all events are finalized a schedule will be posted with times and locations of the events. Eat, sleep and relax as long as you like but be prompt and gassed up for any scheduled ride. Sometimes there has been a group meal planned for arrival day, an evening ride to dinner and also end of ride meals. Obviously we are a motorcycle group with an eating problem.....
The most important thing about the events has been safety; be on time for the group rides to get a good briefing about riding with the group. Second, enjoy the time together with the group (Meet And Greet), bring your stories along and plan ahead, it will be hard to beat the ones that Allen, Lowell & Terry have...

Buster, I've only been to one MOOTMAG and it was awesome. You cant go wrong with a group of people with a common interest and this is a great group of people. Still in the air as to whether I go this year of not. Trying to plan a 14 state ride.
I should be in riding condition by then. I hope!
Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
I have been so slamed with work and now my injury so I just haven't been avalable for any Moot activities and I miss you guys!
Len not sure what your injuries are but hope that you heal quickly and can attend because I for one miss seeing you also. May Gods healing hand help you heal quickly.

Buster, this will be my 6th consecutive MOOTMaG. I cannot tell you what a fun riding event this turns into once it starts rolling. It's great to spend time with like minded individuals. These guys have become my friends over the years.
I hope to be there on the 5th before noon.
If you make it, be sure to bring a camera, there's always something worth taking photos.
This is a family oriented organization. While alcohol is never allowed before or during a ride, some of us "pop a top" after the riding is through just to clear our throats. The camaraderie is top notch in the evenings.
This event is always worth the time and funds.

As of now Jamie is planning on attending.
For the non-riding significant others:
I just got confirmation that my friend Kent Sanman, our guide for a visit to the Chickasaw Cultural Center, can be with us on Friday afternoon. Kent suggested we not try to do this on Saturday, as the crowds would be a problem. He has agreed to show us the Center with an eye to what is aimed at the tourist and what most closely represents true Chickasaw culture then and now.
This may be something you may want to stress in discussions with the non-riding significant others joining us for MMXI.
The price is $6 per visitor, ($5 for Military and seniors) to enter the exhibits.
Here's a link for more information about the Center.

I am hesitant what we will fine....
When I called and talked to the girl asking about wifi on a Saturday, (w/o me asking) she volunteered to check about a coffee shop wifi and she would call and let me know Monday, never happened.
When I wanted to make reservations I called as I had questions, no answer, so I left a message that I wanted to make reservations (did not say when) can you give me a call at ********, no call back.
What strikes me as odd, when you are a small outfit or the economic times are making it difficult....the One task that you have to do is bring in money, the Only way to do that at a lodging place is by filling rooms. When there was no call back to book my room, the most important task, it makes me wonder.
I have considered and may take a ride up there before hand.
And the site is down for me also.
Kinda strange that you are not getting any replies, but I just talked to Brenda at the Inn and she said she rented the last cabin to a MOOT member days ago and they are filled for our event scheduled time. Looks like we own the place now.

Nancy and I will be there. Of course we are bringing the dog so we had to find a place that would accept pets. Found one but off the beaten path about 7-8 miles from turner Falls. Can't remember the name. Since the annual MOOT MaG is about the only time I get to ride for pleasure each year I am always looking forward to the gathering.
This will be number 10 of 11 for me!! MOOT! Might be also bringing a buddy that bought my 98 Valk but won't know for sure until he determines when he has to be in South Carolina this year.
My son is also thinking about buying a 3rd gen. We are going to take a look at a non-runner that has been sitting for a year on Friday. Not sure if he will be up for riding the distance at this point. Last time he was on a bike was in '04 just before he flipped my wifes VStar classic.
Oh, medium for me and if the SO's are getting, XL for my wife.

Not to get off topic but if any of you are aware of a 3rd gen (running preferably) for sale at a reasonable price, let me know.
I look forward to arriving Thursday night or meeting the group at the Chickashaw Cultural Center Friday, probably with my better half Shellene :-)
That will make not 1, but 2 hammock tents!
Oh, and if Rob is still doing T-shirts we should add a small and a large :-)
Scott 'Hop Along' and Shellene 'Sprocket'
Sorry to jump in late, but I plan to make MOOT MaG #11. I will arrive Wed. evening, do the tent again, and probably stay at Smokin Joe's hopefully in the shade.
I am not going to make it to MM #11. Recovery from left eye surgery for detached retina on 3/4 is taking much longer than I had hoped for. I am now scheduled for cataract surgery in both eyes in June. I pray this results in the improved vision I need to ride again.
You guys have a blast. Post some pics for those of us who will be there in spirit only.
I won't make it, but I sent some goodies to Greg for prizes. :D

Dobie, you are the greatest! Would love to meet you in person sometime. Thanks for your continued support of this group of riders.
I have a soft spot for you guys. My dad was from Bonham, TX and I was born on a ranch between Ardmore and Springer, OK. The first home I remember was adjacent to Dornick Hills Country Club, where my dad worked on the Circle F ranch. Went to school in Ardmore through my sophomore year, then moved to New Mexico where I finished school and joined the Navy. I was home-based in California, where I met and married Val, and have been here ever since, but I still have relatives all around the Odessa/Midland area.
Plan on tent camping at Smokin' Joe's. Size XL on T-Shirt. Will probably arrive with Budman on Wed.

Troy you will be missed hope they are paying you lots of money. Hopefully we will see you at MM 12
Howdy folks!
I just got off the phone with Joe at Smokin' Joe's. They did not get any damage when the storms went through Davis the other night. He is prepared for us and looking forward to our visit. He assures me there are plenty of options for the "tenters" as well as trailer slots. (Yes Hop-Along, there are lots of trees for your Squirrel Bed.)
Given the proximity to fuel and a good place for forming up prior to rides for safety briefings and so forth I suggest this as our "Ground Zero" point. Joe told me we have several options if we want to have our Saturday evening "awards ceremony" there ranging from menu order in the restaurant, to home style service on the patio. I told him we were more of a "play it by ear" group and he said fit his business model just fine.
REMEMBER: Google does NOT  have the correct place for Smokin' Joe's. The location is just WEST of I-35 on the south side of HY-77; it is NOT on HY-77 closer to Davis as shown on Google.

Yeah, and if my kids & grandkids weren't all here in CA, I'd move back there in a minute, tornadoes or not. The legislature has been doing everything possible to absolutely ruin the state for years now, and they've just about succeeded. Businesses are leaving in droves, and there are more people on the Gov't dole than those who work for a living. It's not sustainable, and nobody seems to know it. The latest round of gun laws they just put through is nearing the final nail in the coffin. (Sorry for the rant, I'll shut up now.) I miss OK

Well, work's getting in the way a bit. I won't be in until Thursday, probably mid-afternoonish. But I'll still be able to stay through Sunday morning!
See you all there!
Hey, while I'm thinking about it, is there someone who's taking the lead for stuff? Should I contact someone when I get in town to see where everyone is or just see who's at Turner Falls Inn when I get there?

Jeff,
Lots of folks are staying at Turner Falls Inn so that sounds like a good starting place. There is lots of room for join-up and "post flight debriefing" at Smokin Joe's. Joe's is about 1500 feet towards Turner Falls from I-35 on HY-77. At that point HY-77 runs almost directly North and South, Joe's is on the East side of HY-77. That will be the second place to look, I would think. Thursday is probably a settle in day with lots of short small group rides, I suspect.
Friday will be a ride and tour of the Chickasaw cultural center for those interested. Saturday will probably include a Meers run for the best hamburger on the planet, and Sunday is get away day. That is about all the structure there is this year. (I try not to over think things, I know what I'm no good at and tend to stay away from it...thinking that is.)
Fixin to leave the office and start getting ready for an early morning depature. Hope to get to Turner Falls shortly after 3:00. Hope everyone has an uneventful trip up. See everyone soon.
Buddy, any idea what time on Friday the Chickasaw Cultural Center tour might be? I'm hoping to be leaving Norman on Friday around lunchtime,
Hop Along
I was going to arrive for breakfast mid-morning tomorrow, but sounds like I'd be alone. Anyone going to be there by lunch Wednesday :?? I'm staying at Mountain View Motel for 3 nights.
I will be leaving the Dallas area Thursday morning, you can look for me at Turner Falls Inn probably before noon, maybe earlier depends when I can leave.
Who will be at Turner Falls Inn on Thursday and what are your plans Thursday? When I get there I would like to see what my options are, whether to catch up with someone or do my own thing.
I can meet you for lunch Thursday, having no other plans but to ride mornings when it is cool and avoid rain and wet roads. I'm taking scenic highway 77 up from the TX-OK border, adds about 25 minutes but heard it is worth it and map shows some hilly twisties in the Arbuckles. I called Turner Falls Inn and they have free wifi.
Sorry, I meant Mountain View Inn, glad I figured that out before showing up at the wrong hotel and wondering why they don't have my reservation
Turner Falls Inn about 1200 today with Snoopy
I should be there at Turner Falls Inn around 6 or 6:30 looking forward to seeing everyone. Praying that everyone arrives safely.
It's been raining in Davis all morning so I've postponed my departure, arriving closer to check-in time if weather permits, and will look for David C down the road after I'm checked in. 8)
Ahh, glad to hear others are arriving today. I'll look for ya'll.
I too left this morning from Houston. Hopefully be at Smokin Joe's about 3, find a tent spot.
Just arrived at Smokin Joe's.
Checked in. Is dinner at Smokin Joes? 6?

I may look at taking 77 north also from what you are saying, probably be a seat-of-the-pants decision at the time. I would not mind meeting for lunch except with work I don't have a permanent time of departure, where might the gang have lunch at or where are good places to have lunch at?
77 was very relaxing, never saw another vehicle except in a couple of towns. 2 lane with no shoulder, easy to look around. I would do it again. A series of construction signs that warned " centerline and sideline may not be marked - motorcycles exercise caution" but there was no issue today. Most of it was posted 65mph, then at Lake Murray switched to 77S (for scenic not south) was 45 and I passed 3 cops in a short stretch. That ends at hwy 70, turn left and then right on 77 again.
If no one decides on lunch, I'd guess the default location might b Smokin Joes.
Showers early expected to end before 9 and still a nice 68 degrees so I'm thinking ride 9 to noon.
Here's the update since I have good web connectivity.
About 10 of us at dinner tonight, decided to meet for breakfast at 9am if not raining, at Boomer-something or another in Davis on the north side of Main street near C.
Also mentioned at dinner, Phillips 66 at the first exit north of the Red River has 100% gas (no ethanol). Theres also a Phillips 66 about 2 doors down from tomorrows breakfast location but not sure is they are 100% but will find out b4 breakfast.
Wishing the rest of you safe travels.
The Sinclair station at 77 and I-35 has 100% gas for $3.60. They do not have a card reader so you have to go in and pay.
Hopefully I will have good Verizon phone service at Turner Inn so I can connect with my netbook, otherwise I will be searching for places.
Thanks for the update I will see you guys tomorrow.
The WiFi at Smokin' Joe's works well with this tablet.
Speaking of which... I gave everyone a bum steer on the direction. Smokin' Joe's is just NORTH of I-35 on US-77.
Right now (7:25 A.M.) it is raining, but expected to stop soon and be nice the rest of the weekend.
Hope to see everybody soon!
Holy thunderstorms, Batman. I'm seeing a small break in the weather, gonna' make a run for it from Austin in just a few minutes. First planned fuel stop is just north of Waco, will hole up there for a few minutes and decide whether the rain suit or cool vest is more appropriate. Planning on a short stop in the DFW area to look at a car (I know, I know...), might make Turner Falls by mid-afternoon.
Guess I'll see if these LeatherLyke bags are actually water sealed...

Thanks for the info, Bud. I'll see y'all in a couple few hours.
Ahh, great that we can communicate,Bud. Dinner was fun las night, good to meet ya'll.
Hourly screen on weather.com shows rain until 11 or noon so looks like I may not b riding to breakfast unless the forecast changes again. Giving David some time, how about a tentative plan to meet at Smokin Joe's at 12:30? Also for those arriving, i've physically seen Several places called Smokin Joe's, the first in Ardmore, and there is another one a mile or two north on 77 from where the group is staying, so the one you're looking for is the first one north and east of i35 on 77, on the right side .going . looks like mine is the only scooter at Mountain View.
7 of us just arrived back at Joes later than expected but it was an awesome ride. Staring at each other trying to come with a plan, maybe late light lunch here at Joes
Heading out soon from Joes for a loop around Lake Murray, back for dinner
6 bikes leaving from Turner Falls Inn in about 5 - 10 minutes
Kristi and I may get an opportunity to come up for a few hours tomorrow. Have to wait till morning to see if we actually have the day off.
Meeting again at Hwy 77 Diner at 9am
We have a couple of really good ride options for Friday. We'll have all the map book there and should be ready to hit the road in any direction a soon as we finish breakfast.
Let's ride!
Great to see everyone! Shelley and I made it back to Norman with no issues. Of course, it was a lazy 1.5 hour ride following Brad back after a lazy morning... breakfast wasn't till after we saw Mike off, saying bye to Buddy Karen.. we didn't eat til near 11 I think :-)
Hope everyone else has such an enjoyable return ride!

Home from another successfull MOOTMAG! Got to the homestead at just about 12:30 P.M. (No real reason to take the long way home when pulling your house with you.)
MM-11 is in the books, and the planning for MM-XII is already gearing up for next year. Dave started everyone thinking about next year when closing the activities at Smokin Joes.
Thanks to everyone that ventured north of the Red River to enjoy some of Oklahoma's charmes.
Committee members watch a call to arms as we gear up for next year!
Home safe and sound bike unloaded and back to reality. It was a great mootmag enjoyed ever bit of it the weather was good for riding and the company was awesome.
really looking forward to doing it again next year. Enjoyed seeing ever one and meeting a few new friends. Hope ever one had safe trips homes.
I made it home safely about 20 minutes ago, 4:30 my time. I hit light rain in Huntsville and continued to the house, south of Houston. I had a wonderful time seeing everyone and meeting new friends. Thanks again to the planning committee, and thanks to Brad for leading us on some great scenic routes and safe rides. Time to unpack the bike and rest my back and butt.
Mike
vickie and i made it home a little after 1 no rain. It was great seeing everyone and the weather was perfect. Thanks Buddy and Brad for your work on this years event. Is it June yet?
Rick and I arrived 5 p.m. in Austin. We left about 10:45 this morning after a leisurely breakfast at Boomarangs, and a ride up the hill revealed by Jerry. Trailer in the barn, bikes still tied down inside. Thanks to all who came, to Buddy and Brad for leading us around OK, to Dave and Brandon for fireside chats, to Terry for gift certificates and Magna wisdom. It was great fun. :-D :-D

I think we got in around 2 pm.
Left much later than expected, up most of the night with a case of acid reflux and came close to knocking on your door Lawrence to see what meds Rick may of had to help.
On what is suppose to be 100% Real Gas, I went 113 miles and just hit reserve at 110, put in 3.75 Gallons which works out to 30 miles per gallon.
Did you go back on I35 Lawrence, I do not remember seeing your black trailer, although I was not looking, getting back at a pretty good clip so I was focused on traffic. Did you happen to see us?
Terry, I am sorry you had digestive issues. Yes, we came back on I35. Took 35E on the way home because of the huge delay we suffered on the way up on 35W construction in N Ft. Worth. Several traffic tangles, including the mixmaster just west of downtown Dallas, and where east and west branches if I35 merge.
Saw only two motorcyclists on the route of note, both stuck in traffic as we were, neither were you folks. More traffic than I expected on a Sunday. Glad you made it home safe and dry.
Many thanks to Terry, www.cli-maxridinggear.com/servlet/StoreFront and Magniac, www.cycle-istic.com, for the door prizes. I ended up with the centerstand.

You bet Mike, one had it spent before he ever won the certificate, I believe Jim willed it to his wife and he snagged it from her. Another winner looks to have his spent this week.
What can i say she loves me! Thanks Terry for the donations to MOOT and all you have done over the years
Sure wish I could have joined you guys. I was born in Ardmore, lived in a little house which is no longer there, next to Dornick Hills Country Club just North of Ardmore. Haven't been back there since the '70's. Joined the Navy and ended up in California, lived here ever since.
Glad you enjoyed the goodies I sent.
Magniac- I was leading a small group ride thru Gene Autry, and we rode on Gene Autry Rd. More fun than OK 177 to Ardmore. I lived in Ardmore in ~1961 for 9 mos. Definitely Beautiful ranch country.
Thanks for the gift to MM11. And thanks Terry for the GC's and Dave for Gifts.

The moto museum was at the little motorcycle accessories shop right up the road from Joe's. They had a back room with a bunch of vintage bikes and memorabilia. neat stuff.
All photos were taken with my iPhone 5. I forgot to toss my Canon S95 P&S in the bag.
