Fuel Tank Hose - out of L-shaped metal nipple under tank?

Can you tell me what this is and which part it is? This is for a 95 Magna.

I think the last owner replaced this hose with the wrong one, as it is too short and seems too fat and has a wicked curve built in from the factory. The schematics for OEM parts on bikebandit.com for both the fuel tank and carb assembly are really vague, and don't show the nipple at all or a hose going up to it. When I remove the tank, gas dribbles out of it. It is clearly some kind of vent. I'm afraid fuel will leak out and catch fire. Thanks.

That sounds like the vent tube.  I don't remember a bend in the little hose.  It should go about 8 inches then a T JOINT  that goes no where then continues another 8 inches to the sidestand area.

I use for referencing parts.

Take a picture if you can.

That is the vent tube. It should have a 10mm hose on it and it runs down along side the radiator overflow tube. They both go in a metal "holder" that is right next to the kickstand.
Of course on mine, fuel constantly vents out of the tube whenever the bike is in direct sunlight over 70F. Dammed if I know why either.  :(
I can hear the cap venting after I shut the bike off after a nice hard ride when it's hot out, so I think the cap is OK, but since I don't want two keys to carry around, the origional cap will stay on and the fuel tank will continue to leak on the ground!
Look up the parts fische on RonAyres.com to see a better pic.

I will look at re-routing my hose.  That was the path my hose takes.

Multiple keys: Lowell told me you can take a blank key and have it made with one side the pattern with the main key and the other side with the pattern of the gas cap.  But the cap on the 3 gen does not vent with the cap so changing the cap will not help the vent tube from letting gas escape.  Gas expands with heat so if you are full I can see the fumes letting gas leak out the vent tube.

Robert, thanks for the information on the keys...however from what you said it probably won't help my problem. The gas is more than venting...it is a steady drip in direct sunlight. This occurs even with 2 gallons in the tank...that shouldn't be enough to expand and push it out, I dunno. It's not a real big deal, although it looks like a Hardley sitting there leaking :(

I don't know if the Magna tank has a weak joint at the vent tube or not but I have seen one, 3 gen tanks on Ebay that said vent tube has a leak.
