Hey all,

I've got a mean-looking ratty/custom (hahaha) Magna project that I'm working on right now.  I thought I had the fuel pump sorted out but I'm not so sure now...

Here's the deal:  I stuck a funnel in the fuel line to the carbs to get the bike started once.  I then took the fuel pump apart and cleaned it a little, then jiggered up another fuel apparatus (the pump didn't seem to be working before).  With gas at the carbs already, I ran that line to the pump and then ran the "in" line to the pump with the gas funnel.  The gas would just sit there until the I started the bike, and then it appeared that the pump was working as the gas was then going through the hose.

But now...  I've got the bike all back together.  I don't have the fuel lines in a real "stock" position but even stock the fuel filter is higher than the aux tank.  I put 4 gallons of gas in it and tried to start it (there wasn't any gas priming the carbs this time.  Problem is, now the fuel pump doesn't draw any gas from the aux. tank.  Do I need to prime the carbs again and get the motor really running to get the fuel pump to draw from the tank?

Put your hand on top of the fuel pump and turn the key on. You should feel it click as it pumps up the fuel line, if it doesn't then the pump is bad or it isn't getting power.
