New sound

I have aquired a new sound in my motor.  When I have been riding for a while and start to stop I have a clatter sound that starts when I pull in the clutch.  It lasts between 5 to 10 seconds then stops.  I am thinking that it may be the cam chain tensioner.  Does this work off pressure? I here it on the brake side of the motor.  I have checked the oil and it is full.  I have recently changed pipes, but the plugs I pulled out did not have alot of white chalk on them.  It did not seem to be running lean.  I also changed the plugs when I got back from MM6.  I dont remember hearing it in OK.  Anyone have a suggestion.  Also I have never ajusted the jets on a motorcycle.  If someone is willing to show me I would appreciate it.  I am in the East Texas area but will bring it where I need to.

Sounds like clutch noise to me.

What pipes did you get?  IF they are quieter then its possible the noise has always been there and just now being heard???

Run the bike for a few hundred miles the way you intend to ride it, then read the plugs and we can make a determination from there as to what adjustments the carbs may need from the plug read.

So what do i do about the clutch noise?  These new pipes are Jardines and are a little louder than the stock ones i took off.

I would keep my fingers crossed! 

If you can hear the side it's coming from you might pull the engine cover for a inspection, some of the clutch baskets are riveted onto the primary gear and the rivets might be loose. Chain tensioner, check for proper tension or remove to see if the rub block is worn or tensioner is stuck.

The noise is happening when the clutch lever is pulled in and i am coasting.  I dont know if this makes a differences in anything.

If you put it in neutral while your coasting and let out on the clutch does the noise stop?

I have a similar problem when i am in neutral after she warms up. I feel like a rocking in the handlebars at the front of the bike and it stops when i pull the clutch, anyone know what this is?. Also can anyone describe what the 4k flatspot feels like? it seems like when i hit 4k she just makes a constant annoying sound when im cruising around. Almost a buzzing and i can feel vibration. It doesn't happen till i hit 4k. I have stock pipes with endplates removed.

The midrange flat spot is best felt when riding through the rpms from 3k to 4500, not hard not slow just normal progression.
When you kit about 4000-4200 rpms it will seem as if you the bike starts to pull harder all of a sudden, which it is cause it has more fuel to burn LoL.

I have basically the same sound/feel.  Mine does not go away completely when I pull in the clutch, be it does get better.  I notice if, in neutral, I slowly bring the rpm up that the noise stops around 2k or so.  I was guided to try different oil, which did help some.  I am going to synthetic on the next change.

This noise is indicative of clutch noise which is normal of all bikes just some are noisier than others !!!
