Any more feedback on the new tire??
Is it noisier??
Is it harder or easier to lock-up?
Is it better in the snow??

Hoot, I missed this post.

Much better in the snow AND ice, it wiggles and wobbles but it won't fall down.

I haven't noticed the lock-up feature yet, you would think it has to be. Not many miles on it yet in various road conditions.

Regarding this tire, not a larger size tire many might put on;

The first road I hit was one by my house with a curve, no extra steering input needed for the curve.

Seemed to have less road feel, so I aired it up to 47 lbs, than dropped it back to 40 lbs. Not sure on this yet.

Small amount of wiggle when gunned hard from a stop (first impression, may just be me).

Can not tell any extra road noise but in the winter I wear a full face and my windbreaker is flapping in my ear, I hear nothing else.

I rode the bike to the wrench session than to Waco and back 2-up, probably around 250 miles, mostly interstate and it performed well.

I'm still skeptical as I always was but less so now, my main concern was losing handling and cornering. When I hit more curves I will know more. I have more I could say but would like time riding before I comment since I have few miles on this tire.

I will say, if you are not an aggressive rider, commute or just a pleasure rider I don't think you will notice very little difference. What I need more time with is in the curves, pushing the tire some or let Curtis hit the curves with it. lol

On another board with international members I asked for info regarding this brand of tire made in Holland.

Comments,

"In the late 80s early 90s i raced cars on ice i used these tires awesome traction great tire i liked them."

"I had them on my Saab back in the 90's in England and they were great. If you can find them in the US, get a set."

Terry - What Brand are you discussing specifically..
Any update on your experience, yet??

Vredestein brand made in Holland. They also make bikecycle tires someone eluded to but are too expensive for that person to use.

Does anyone have a list of 'Darkside' tire installers? (not Charles' shop floor...)
Or do I need to make a trip to Allen's tire burn off garage????

I don't know of any, most people did as Hoot and asked various shops, independent being your best bet. Your are welcome to bring it over here and we can give it a try. I have not mastered tire changing, it's still mastering me, but WE can give it a shot.

Also, along with bob's request, could someone post favorite sizes for the darkside tire.(Allen) 8-)  maybe even in the FAQ list.  I myself might possibly do this come spring time.  Also if you have to use a spacer or not with each size etc.etc.  Thanks everyone..

Lance I can put one together and add it to the FAQ, not a bad idea.  I found a few, Hoot found a few, some we will not know if a spacer is required but we can list what we do know.

Hoot, send me a list of the ones you found again.

Terry, were you the one that bought the tire change machine?
I would be willing to try that. I expect the tire to come in tomorrow.

I stopped by the Honda shop in Allen, Texas.  Trying to put my wife's mind at ease.  They will not install a darkside tire but they will not fail a state inspection sticker for it.  They are selling bike tires not car tires so he did not give the idea a glowing review to do such a thing.  He did not discourage the idea just not a glowing review.

When did you want to come over and do the tire?

Now that I have a Magna with and w/o a CT I will test them both. Also riding Robert's with the 165 size will give me an idea how that performs also.
