Bob, we are getting set-up!

Hey Terry, where'd you get those rim protectors and how much were they?  I tried splitting some 1/3 poly-flo tubing to make some but it kept slipping off the rim.
I need to quit being cheap and get the real thing!

Curtis,

I bought the cheap pliable rim protectors (kept losing their integrity), these I think will work better, at least they did the other day. They are the hard plastic type from Cycle Gear. I bought all they had, at least out, 11-12.00  per set. Nothing is definite yet as I work my way through the process and technique. One day I hope to give you and Allen a run for your money changing a tire.

Hoot, I have no Seafoam, I do have Berrymans.  8-)

Since it is relatively the same size, shape, and purpose... This is acceptable..

Car tire arrived today (Yeah!!!!). So I have the 83 degree valve stems and the car tire.. Waiting on Dyna Beads.. Then to the local Bike shop... I figure I'll bring some starter fluid with me, just in case!!!

Here are some pictures...

Tire width comparison - Note: uninflated, the care tire does not seem to be any wider than the 150 Avon. Note: the Car tire is closer to the camera and makes it look a little larger.

I took this one to show how much bevel there is on the edge of the tread. I don't know if all car tires have so much bevel

Again Comparison with Avon, Car tire is closer to the camera

Picture of the tread pattern

Label - Upper right had side states 400 A/B
Tire is designed in Taiwan, but manufactured in China

Side wall - 1 Ply Poly
Tread - 1 Ply Poly, 2 Ply Steel

Good looking tire Hoot!

It looks to have more of a beveled edge than I have seen. Thanks for the photos, I wanted to get an upclose of the tread design. With Roberts 165 we didn't need starter fluid, took air easily. I could tell mine would be a problem when it arrived.

Once Robert has his risers on properly I want to ride his more with the 165 for comparison.

Are the sidewalls very stiff? What do you think of the tire in person?

I mentioned the beveled edge because I think it make the tire more like a 155 than a 165, do you want me to provide a tread width measurement to add to your specs?

This is why I supplied the ply info.. The side walls are NOT very stiff, and this brings me to some concern. I would prefer the sidewalls to be a little stiff (I think).. I would think I don't want the tire to be (warning Technical term approaching!!!) Smooshie..  This would allow lateral shifting of the rear of the bike in a turn.. I can be talked out of this line of thinking. Come on... Please.. Someone talk me out of this line of thinking!!!
Is there someway we can indicate the Smooshieness of the sidewalls???

Thanx for Caring Jerry... You can now be my Deputy!!!

Yes, I can add the measurement info along with my other. Not only tread width but the same I had on my previous post. I have to run, we need to measure tread width the same way. I used a level on top of my tire for an accurate diameter measurement.

I'm saying 4 1/4" tread width. I'm measuring just outside the last bead on each side (See Picture #2 above) where the bevel really starts to fall off (Here is a picture with a measuring tape)...
