Hello everyone, I am a new member!!!
I purchased a 1984 V65 for my wife (I already have one) It has 14K miles and seems to be in great shape, No valve noise ect. It does however have a vibration from about 4000 to 6000 that I dont have in mine. You can feel it in the bars and on your feet and it makes the mirrors blurry. In the few weeks we have owned it I have replaced the fork seals, Oil,Exhaust gaskets,Hypiod oil, antifreeze, air filter and spark plugs. Otherwise the bike runs and rides great, Anyone have suggestions?? Thanks in advance

first thing i would check would be the front tire, even if it has good tread doesn't always mean its a good tire

Is the vibration when the bike is standing still (motor vibration) or when rolling..
This may not be it, but something you REALLY need to check on both bikes..
The V65's had faulty fork braces.. They are known to crack and even break, which has caused crashes...

Have front tire checked for balance and take a good hard look at front fork brace for stress cracks.

Does the bike have the vibration in that rpm range in every gear? sitting still?

Could be a number of things so I'll name a few things to check...
Tires - check the age, pressure, and for any deformity such as scalloping.
Engine mount bolts - check for correct torque, overtightening can cause vibration.
Drive shaft - the shaft contains fluid which acts as a dampener.
Swing arm & steering stem bearings - check for play.
Engine - check that all 4 cylinders are firing.

ok, A little more info, I have added a fork brace, The engine is firing on all 4 cyl. I had to replace the exhaust seals after purchasing the bike do to a leak at the rear exhaust ports. It was a real Bitch to get back on, Not like my own that after cleaning and new seals slid rite on. Could the exhaust or exhaust mounts be causing the problem? I know about the inner and outer walls problem, have already had mine welded, its not that, I took hers out for a ride the other day and I placed my feet on the outer cases of the motor and didn't feel the vibration as bad as I did on the foot pegs (especially the rt one) and the handle bars....Also replaced the front tire last week with no improvement other then better handling.....Hers also feels tighter in the front than mine......like I can feel more of the road......

Have you checked the front wheel bearings?

Also thanks for the idea of the the motor mounts and stem bearings, I will check those as well!!!! I first thought of the motor mounts but have not seen any posts of problems with them.......

Let me ask you, does it vibrate in regards to speed or just RPM speed of the motor? If you are sitting on the bike in the driveway with the motor reved do you have the vibration? This would isolate whether it is in the motor or the drive train/frame/wheels. If it happens while sitting still something could be out of whack internally.
