The back brake is squeaking I pulled the wheel and looked at the pads and the drum both looked fine thought maybe the pads might be glazed a little but they didn't look glazed rubbed them down with emory cloth just to see if it would help but they are still squeaking any body got any ideals? Thanks in advance for any advise.

My rear brake squeaks if the bike has been sitting a few days, or if it has rained, or if the humidity is high -- but only the first time or two I apply the rear brake.  Once I use it a few times (it dries out ??), it ceases to squeak.

Mine squeals loudly, I hate it and rarely use the back brake partly due to this.  I opened mine, cleaned it out real good using steel wool in the "drum" and got all the powder off the pads.  Did me no good.

Use it a couple good hard times and it will be just fine!  I use both front and rear together quite a bit...

I have a auto service center that does a lot of break work & we get a lot of cars in for break noise. A lot of them don,t need brakes they just need there noise to go away.We use a chemical made by BG called BREAK QUIET applied to brake bad or shoe surface. This quiets about 90% we use it on.You should be able to get some at a parts store that sells BG products.

I think a lot of it has to do with humidity and light use of the rear brake. I have noticed that a lot with the different Magna's I owned, I have it on the Rocket occasionally.

Sounds like an idea.

When I replaced my shoes the noise went away, I am sure it will come back in time, I also use both front and rear simultaneously.

You are absolutely correct Greg....

I am going to try this out.  A lot easier than actually working on it.  It makes sense in my situation as I use the front brakes most of the time and only the back if a hard shutdown is needed.  I'll wring the back out a little bit on my next ride.

If you use your back brake as well under most braking situations it will make your front brake last longer

Well, I have been using my back brake all week and have ridden about 200 miles this week.  No luck, it still squeaks.  The first day I tried hard to use the back brake primarily and the squeak did seem to get better, but not go away totally.
I have a set of brand new pads that I guess I will put in.  I bought them a while back and planned on doing when I did my tire change.  But then the back pads still had so much left on them I did not.
Bob's comment about humidity is probably dead on.  I can see where lack of use could cause issues.  I will start fresh with new pads and start using my back brake regularly and see what happens.
The rest of you who said yours squeals, even after new pads, how often do you use your back brake?

I use my back brake every time I stop along with the front brake and they still squeak usually worse in the mornings.
