changing oil on my bike myself for first time - any pointers?

Damn Yankee

When you remove the oil filter, make sure the rubber gasket is still attached to the filter bottom, and not sticking to the engine.

If you try to spin the new filter on over the old gasket, you won't get a very good seal and oil will spray all over when you fire it up.

Don't ask me how I know this....... :lol:

Otherwise, I am using Amsoil 10-40 synthetic...trying their filter for the first time. Just changed it out yesterday.

Thanks for the kind words, I do love her!  I'm dreaming of chroming the wheels and fork tubes, but for now will have to settle for re-roofing my house.  :-(
