I am running a 150 X 90 X 15 tire on the back of my '96 magna. I haven't seen anybody else post on here that they run that size tire. I have had the bike just over a year and I have had to replace the rear tire once, but that was the size that was on it when I bought it. The bike handles very well and the tire does not rub anywhere. I did have to special order the tire from my dealer. Does anybody else run this size?

Stock is the Dumlop K555 150 80 15, I have heard of someone who ran that size, can't remember who it was.

Terry has supplied you with the correct stock size..
You MAY already understand what is typed below, but others may not..

Going with the 90 over the 80 will make the tire a little "taller" than stock.. This will modify your RPM's slightly from stock vs. the speed of travel. With a Taller tire, the bike will take off slightly slower, but will reduce the RPM's slightly. How much I am unsure.
SO, if you "race" a lot, the tire is not to your benefit. If you travel at highway speed a lot, then the tire is to your advantage.
Likely the previous owner went with the non-stock tire size because that is what the store had in stock at the time.. I would go back with stock.

I would personally also not go with the stock Dunlop, but try a Metzler or and Avon tire, but that would be personal preference... If you don't really ride all that much, then probably go with the cheapest of the three.. I believe you will get more mileage out of the Metz or Avon, but if you only travel a few thousand miles a year, the tire is going to get hard, or weather crack before you wear the tire out...

For whatever reason the whole tire size thing confuses me sometimes.  IIRC, the numbers are more of a percentage of height vs width.  I can't remember which is which, but I think that since one is 150 x 90 it is actually almost the same height as the tire that is 155 x 80.
I KNOW someone will step up here and correct me if I am wrong.

It is a aspect ratio thing but the simple thing is the 80 and the 90 there is a 10mm difference between the two hope that helps LOL probably not

We ran the 150-90 on Devin's rear no ill effects just taller slows down the rev's etc slightly.

Thanks for the info. I am NOT a aggressive rider. Mostly all highway. The tire works fine and looks cool stuffed under the fender. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't hurting the bike somehow. She has been so good to me I wouldn't want to treat her  bad.  :-)
