Hi all, im new to the site,im over here in rainy England. Great site. I have a few bikes in my garage
xjr-r1200,xt600e and a xj600n.The Magna is the smoothest and most comfortable of the lot.The Magna which i think is about 13 years old only has 1700 miles on the clock, and is in mint condition.
The problem i have is that the frame number rc431000393, i cant find what year it corresponds with,
any help would be appreciated...thanks, Dave.

Welcome Dave,  there is alot of good folks on this site.  They can help you out with just about anything.
My third gen Magna has the year written just below the frame number on the fork part of the frame.  Post a pic someone can help you from the pic also, or get you in the ball park.

Welcome to the forum Dave.  I'm sure someone will have the answer unless bikes for the European market have different nomenclature than ours.  Speaking of your market....... man they sell some swell bikes over there, especially dual sports and mid sized street bikes.  I guess the bulk of our consumers are too focused on BIG and v-twin for them to bother offering them over here.  Honda no longer offers us a single bike I'm interested in except maybe the ST1300.

Welcome to the group Punchy Ok so the number you have given is RC341000393 Ok look at it again and see if you have any other numbers because the 3rd gens frames all started with the RC341 but after that sequence you should have a 3M00001 to 3M99999 numer that is just a frame number the vin will tell you more and here is a link that may help too http://www.magnaownersoftexas.com/faq.htm

Thanks for the help guys,  ;-) another little problem i have is that the bike had been stood a while befor i bought her,i changed the plugs, changed the oil checked all fuel lines and vac pipes were clear.
When i get her up to 5000rpm she starts spluttering, running lean..I,ve put few shots of a carb cleaner
called Redex in the tank, but its not cleared the blockage yet.I know this problem has been discussed on here befor, basically does anyone on the site know if i can buy the seafoam treatment over here or a simlar
treatment so i can  clean the blocked jets without tearing the carbs down. .ta

If all else fails check your local Wal Mart. I'm sure they have one close by you somewhere (they're everywhere ).

Hey Dave, Charles here in sunny North East Tx :D. You said it starts sputtering at about 5K, does it ever smooth out as you run it on up around 9k, or does it do it at any rpm above 5k?

Alreyt Charles, yea, once i get her over 5000rpm,she still splutters slightly, but will still pull 85-90mph
and then seems to plataue out. When over taking fast moving traffic, if i gear down, she does,nt like it,and
seems to choke(blocked jet,i think).When taken up to 5000rpm gradually,she pulls well,and at 4000rpm
i can be pulling going on for 70mph,then when i hit 5000rpm on the nose she starts juddering.. :-?

If she has never been touched  you could shim the needles and open the pilots maybe 1/4 turn and try that maybe lean midrange raising the needle would richen it up a bit!!!

The only trouble I've had with the Magna was plugs, but my Valk was doing the same thing, I tried everything but finally ended up pulling the carbs and cleaning the idle jets. Despite being told that the idle jets wouldn't effect the way it run at higher rpms I cleaned them anyway and man did it make a difference. Besides pulling the carbs is not as bad as some make it out to be. I think Greg has a step by step in the tip and tricks section. anyway good luck with it..
