Need your opinion - Fast Idle..

1st you get to read my story..
I was going down one of the main roads near my house and through traffic passed a guy on a crotch rocket.. It looked like a smaller inline 2 cylinder model.. This road leads to a long bridge.. I jump on the bridge and I'm cruising along at 65/70 ahead of all the cars.. In my mirror, I see the crotch rocket shooting up the slow lane catching up to me.. I wait, then  drop the Magna into 3rd and pour on the fuel.. He get's about 10 yards in front of me, and then it was all Magna..
I looked down and was close to redline in third and I was well over 100mph..

I roll off the throttle and bring it back down to about 70.. he passes me and I let him go..
I get stopped at the next light and he made the light..

When I stopped, my bike idle would not go below 2500 RPM.. the throttle cables seem to be fine, I pulled out the choke and pushed it back in, and it seems to be normal..

I reached down and re-adjust the idle screw and bring the idle back down to 1000 RPM..

The bike has acted normal since then..

This is NOT the 1st time my bike has been near redline, but I have NEVER had an issue with the idle screw re-adjusting itself before..

Any ideas what might have caused the high idle???

I don't know Harry but it has happened to me too.  My screw didn't self adjust like yours but my RPM wouldn't go below 2500 RPM.  I can only guess that due to redlining, the engine is running strong, and it takes awhile for it to idle back down.

It sounds like your magna was mad at you because you didn't keep it at redline!!!     :-P

Probably cleared some junk out of the low speed jets while racing the engine. Clearer jets=more fuel=higher curb idle.
You are not paid for what you do, but rather for what you will do and when that time comes, you will be highly underpaid.

You are along my thoughts.. Except.. I run SeaFoam frequently, I've never had to up my idle screw in the 5 years I've owned the bike. But this is the reason I asked the question.. It's like something changed.. Fuel, air, timing...
It has run fine for 40 miles so far, so I'm not really worried, just wish I could explain it..
Well My wife and I may go for a ride today for her B'Day,
and a friend and I are going for a Nice long ride on Thursday (His bike has been broken for 10 months and he is leaving for Chicago on Monday, then he will be in Dallas for at least 6 months (coming back on week-ends)).
I have rides planned on Saturday and Sunday..
SO, by then, I'll have forgotten about this, or be Found On Road Dead... and everyone can start calling me Harley instead of Harry...

Thanx for your thoughts..
