And another question....this is about the vacuum chamber springs (carbs)

YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really don't want to have to pull the carbs out again to figure this out, but, what am I to do at the moment other than asking your thoughts here.

I must also state that the net is a wonderful thing. Because of it, I have a v-four, and I now have the Clymer's manual, the Haynes manual, and the shop manual.

So, I am reading the following:

Clymer's manual shows the 1985 main jet for the 2 & 4 is a 95 and the 1 & 3 being a 98. with NO mention of difference in vacuum chamber spring size.

Hayne's manual shows the 1985 main jet for the 2 & 4 is a 95 and the 1 & 3 being a 98 and DOES mention that the rear vacuum chamber springs are shorter.

The Honda shop manual shows nothing about jet sizes or springs.

And, what symptoms would indicative of the springs being put in the wrong vacuum chambers?

(hmmmmmm....Why do I get this feeling that I will be pulling the carbs out again......)

Thanks!

I guess you would have trouble syncronising your carbs if springs are in wrong positions (if they are unequal lengths). Did you swap them around in the first place?

try to contact Billy C on that Honda V4 BBS forum if you can. he is the carb guru on the older bikes from what I gather.

When I got the bike, it did not run as the carbs needed to be cleaned again. It's my understanding that the previous owner cleaned them, but they sat. I cleaned them again, but was very meticulous about cleaning them one at a time to make sure I did not put the wrong parts back in the carbs. While doing this though, I did not note the spring sizes. I can only hope that the previous owner put the correct springs in the correct carbs.

I posted this in the main forums just a minute ago for you:

I have no idea where to post this so I posted it here knowing someone would see it. There is a guy on one of the other magna forums that has been trying to get onto this board. I sent 'The Mann' a quick message but have yet to hear back from him. He has carb trouble and wanted to get him in touch with billy c or someone on here that knows the older bikes carbs pretty good. Can someone help? his handle on the other board is xwarp and his first name is Tom. I assume he would use the same handle here. Thanks.
