I know guys - put air in it - but I've got a new Dunlop rear tire with less than 1,000 miles on it.  Today some kind person left a 6 x 1 3/4 wood screw in the road in Arlington and I now own it.  I've read never put a plug in a motorcycle tire unless it is just to get to a garage.  Local shop says they do not patch tires but will dismount it and I can take it to an auto tire shop and let them patch it.  They advised putting a tube in it.  What have you done with puncture wounds?  This is my first and I hate to buy a new tire with all that tread on this one.  Thanks for your advice.

Started late but catching up. God is good.

The Suzuki/Kawasaki shop on I-30 just as you get close to Mesquite has put in plug patches for me before on a rear tire.
That would be the only way I would try, it is a patch with a plug all in one, they are made together so the plug doesnt squirt out going down the road.
They say they have dont it for road racers at the track and not had a problem.

I had a very small leak in my front tire and put  a tube in it and ran it for 5 or 6000 mile with no ill effects but the plug patch works good too just can,t see doing it on a front tire back yes

When I got my Magna last summer, it had a plug in it. I rode it like that all season. It was in need of a new rear tire this season which is on now. I never really went over 80mph and never had any problems. I worried about it though. Understand not wanting a new tire so soon. The plug/patch that Allen and Greg mentioned sounds ideal with the best of both worlds. That's my experience with a patch and now that I think about it, I didn't look to see if it was one of those combos or straight plug.

I have done the car tire patch with a kit and I thought it was done without taking off the tire.

Guys, I have rode so many miles through the years with just a plain old plug in my tires that I wouldn't even give a patch type plug a second thought.
