I'm interested in knowing the age of my tires. They're almost due for changing but all this tire talk has me wondering.

Here are the numbers I see on the tire and I can't figure out it's date stamp:

FRONT:
Dunlop K555f, 120/80-17 (Make, model, size - got that!)
E11 (I believe this is actually a European designation - E11 would be the UK, not sure what it's doing on this tire...? I could be off and it's off topic anyway)
75-R (Load and speed rating I believe)
000290 - I think this is the date stamp... Perhaps 29th week of 2000 from the 290 at the end?
2913 - or this one - but it doesn't configure into any date stamping articles I've found online

Any help would be greatly appreciated. They almost due for changing but if I find they're 10 years or over I think I'll just change them now instead of in another 1000 or so.

Cheers, DR.

Thanks for the info Robert, good to know all that stuff.

I'll take another look at my tired to see if I see any other numbers than what I listed, but out of the ones I did list, I don't see one that would fit a date code, do you?

The 2913 can't be a post 2000 date code, 29th week of 2013... and the date code for pre-2000 were apparently week then single digit for the year in 'that' decade. So 000290, taking the last 3 (like some articles say) would be the 29th week of 1990 but my bike is a 1994. Perhaps it's the 29th week of 2000. That's what I'm thinking.

Thanks again.

Got the info I needed... looked on the other side of the tire... feel a little dim now but whatever! It's Tuesday and my brain is already fried.

Can't remember the week but it was 2003, so they're 7 years old which is fine for me. It was the numbers after the DOT stamp that gave the date. Post 2000 it's the last 4 digits. First two are the week and last two are the year. I had seen this info on websites but failed to look at the other side of the tire to find the DOT stamp.

By Tuesday of this week, I had already worked 30 hours with 4 hours sleep each night (after a weekend of IKEA furniture building, organizing the apartment for baby no 2 and being mr mum as the mrs is sorely fatigued in her 3rd trimester) so I don't feel as stupid as I normally would. I'll cut myself some slack!
