Inspection Sticker placement

So when I bought my bike, it came with one of the standard boring inspection sticker plates like this:

which is kind of bent in the middle so that it fits behind my plate, but then sticks out in such a way that it fits around/blocks my rear reflector.  This pretty much completely covers up the reflector, and just generally looks crappy.  Any good suggestions from folks on a better solution?  If folks can engineer PVC chain baths, I'm sure you've got clever ideas for this!

My solution was to remove the reflector from the bike, simple and looked good

I know what you are talking about.  I did a functional fix not a custom fix.  I just bent the plate so my sticker faces straight up and the plate does not block the reflector.

I believe there are after market holder that attach on the frame swing-arm or the bolt that goes through the hub of the rear wheel.

I have been stopped a few times by the po-po but never questioned about the inspection sticker.  Which is in a ziploc bag with my registration in the owners manual compartment.  IE. no visible sticker on the bike.

Up here in NY, the sticker has to be affixed to a permanent part of the bike on the left side.  This usually translates to somewhere on the left fork.  Why the fork is considered a permanent part, I don't really understand ... seems somewhere on the frame would be a more "permanent" choice.  I screwed up my sticker last year when I took the forks off to install the Race Tech cartridge emulators and was going to purchase a plate until I found out that was a no-no here.

If you remove the front fender, you will notice that where the bolts go through the fender to the shock, the mating surface is notched. I fabricated a plate from 3/16" thick black plastic, about the size of the inspection sticker, to fit between the fender and the shock.
It is parallel to the front wheel, and matches the fender and the black powder coated fork tubes. It does the job, looks good on the bike, and not one comment from the po po the 3 times I've been stopped for speeding (me bad!).

Move to Oklahoma- we don't have safety inspections anymore.  But, if you are stopped for any moving violation, they can add any safety violations, lights out , loud muffler, tires, etc.  I took the rear reflector off the first month when I got the '96.

In Mass they affix the sticker directly to you license plate. So when a PO get behind you he can clearly see that the bike has passed inspection. Every month it is a different color though out the year.

North Carolina eliminated the sticker.  You still get an inspection (must be within 90 days of registration).   The highway dept is notified automatically (same with insurance) when you get the inspection.   When you go to register your vehicle the state knows you have insurance and have had an inspection.
