Fuel Pump Replacement

As mentioned on another thread I have a fuel pump out on my other car.

Not realizing how much fuel I had and the anti-siphon part of the filler neck I was unable to remove any unspent gas. After I did siphon the gas from the fuel pump hole I had a full tank, filled my Infiniti up past full which was on empty for this purpose. I had an extra 90 pounds that helped break the filler neck while I was trying to remove the tank, filler neck is 150 dollar issue I am waiting for the part to arrive.

The filler neck extends about a forearm length parallel to the body inside the tank. The tank has to be lowered on the left side and slide off the tank from the neck, didn't work for me. The filler neck you see here is 2-3 inches longer that broke off in the tank.

This was the problem child with a piece of the fuel line I could not get off, bought the special tool and the special tool was no match.

Here is a photo of the tank out, pump installed and new rubber grommet where the filler neck goes in.

The rubber grommet seals against the filler neck and keeps the gas from coming out, some get old, cracked  and must be replaced as fuel seeps out.

I have a new filler neck ordered, to get this one off I had to dive inside.

Low and behold I locate the money hole, undo those screws and the ones on the outside and the tube is removed.

When I removed the fuel filter what came out looked like murky brown water. The filler neck will be oiled well when the tank goes back on, I don't need to break another one.

it almost looks like you could have just taken off the back seat and taken the fuel pump out that way.

Terry has used this as a cheap surrogate for some time now.  I am surprised that The Seafoam Policeman hadn't noticed before...

I give Terry plenty of grief about angel shirts and potato, etc. etc. SO, sometimes I cut him a little slack..

If you take the spare out of the trunk and cut a large hole in the sheet metal right in the middle, you would be there, no but why make this easy, right.
