Questions on storing ?

I know it's a little early for this but I'm just thinking ahead and since this is my 1st Bike I want to know what others do to store their bikes for the winter and what I need to do ??

I hear of the Carbs clogging in just weeks,   but mine was in storage for 5 years ran ever once in a blue moon and with a couple of cans of Sea Foam it seems to be fine,

Winter whats that  the Seafoam and or Stabil is fine for your gas for winter storage make sure that the tank is filled all the way before and shut the fuel off and change oil.
I know I do not ride mine all the time well I ride it to work and then she sits for up to 3 weeks or so while I am on the boat and for the most part she starts right up.

Your info does not say where you live.  When it is below 38 I let my Magna stay at home.  If it is three or more days below 38 I will go start it and let it run for a few minutes. 

But Allan is correct Seafoam and the instructions should tell you also.

bought mine at Wal-Mart for $12 or so.  Came with interconnects.  I have wired to the battery posts.  I use the same interconnect for a power outlet (fused, of course).  Brought out the connector at the back of the seat on the left side.  You have to look hard to find it, and it facilitates quick connect/disconnect for the battery tender.

Does anyone use fogging oil before storing?  I've always used it on my mowers and jet skis, but have never used it on the Mag.  Since we can have weird weather here in central Illinois (20 degrees one day, 55 the next), it can create a massive amount of moisture buildup on and in everything.  Maybe the fogging oil would be overkill.  Thoughts?

I guess it depends on where you're storing the bike in the off season.  I'm out on Long Island and we can get the same temperature swings or it can stay in the 20's for a week or more.  I keep my bikes in my garage, which never gets much below 40-50 degrees as my oil burner in located in an adjacent room which is open to the garage.  I just try to fire them up and get them to operating temperature at least once every other week if I can't actually go out for a ride.

I asked several months ago about "pickling" my 2nd Magna, since I can only ride one at a time.  General advice was to run it to temperature every week.  It has worked so far.  Got it out the other day, and it still runs great!

I live in the Northeast were it gets cold to the bone. Never really gets above 30 but drops to minus all the time. When I store my bike. I change the oil so any sludge that is in the oil will not settle to the bottom of the pan. I wax the bike and lube the chain. I also pump a generius amount of Sea Foam in the tank. I then fire up the bike an let it run for about 15-20 minutes to make certain the fuel mix gets into the carbs. I remove the seat and then remove the battery. I place the battery in the cellar and set it on a plank with a trickle charger on it. If the weather gets up to were it is some what warm. I will put the battery back in and fire it up an let it run to operating temp.

I live in the arctic... so I fog each cylinder,  seafoam generous amount in tank with 91 octane ( keeps better), clean all chrome, oil the chain, put fresh oil in, pull battery and charge in house. Cover bike and put styrafoam covers on exhaust to keep the critters out.  I know it sounds like alot but it is cheaper than a new bike.

It is frequently below zero and gets down to about -40f about once or twice during the winter. I think fogging oil can foul your sparkplugs though....
