My rear tire was completely bald and I had a spare one with good tread. The only problem is the old one is a 140-90-16 and the new one is 150-80-16. Is this an acceptable size for a V65? It's just a little wider and shorter right?

The measurements go like this, the 140 is the width in mm, the 90 an aspect ratio, meaning the tire wall height is 90% of the width.  140 tread width x 0.90 = 126 sidewall height.  150 tread width x 0.80 = 120 sidewall height, so its 6mm shorter and 10 mm wider.

Ok that's how I understood it also.  Thanks for the reply. So with that little of a difference in size I'm guessing I won't have any fitment or performance issues.

It will influence your performance, but just a little.. The smaller diameter will make your bike a little faster off the line and cause you to turn a little higher RPM at high speed.. Nothing overly significant, but it will have an effect.
When I went to the car tire which is a little taller, it caused about a 250 RPM drop at 60 mph.. Again not significant, but detectable.
