Not that I'm a betting man, but I'd bet a dollar that after removal you  will find *most* strands of wire broken, but not all-at least not yet.  It is possible for some of the wires to break, but not all.  When only a few are not broken, they will seem to lengthen-as they are no longer twisted, they lay longer.

I'd be willing to sweeten the pot by adding a dollar to the bet: the breaks will be within 1" of either end of the cable (probably the handgrip end).

I will look forward to seeing what you find Brandon-

Okay, so I got the parts in a week or so ago, and went to install them today.  This thing is a puzzle.  I've figured out where the electrical connections were (in the headlight assembly bell), but now I'm trying to figure out what *order* to put it all together in.

I've gotten the handle bar side of the cables connected, and I can get the carburetor pulley wheel's side connected, but then the sleeve adjustment doesn't line up correctly on the adjustment arm.  And if I *were* to figure out the correct order I'm guessing that I will find that I was probably supposed to make some adjustment somewhere that I'm no longer able to.  Basically I'll work on one side of the cable, get it good, then go to the other side, and something's not right, and the *only* way to fix it is to start over.

So what *is* the correct order to get this all done?  I've got a brand new right and left switch assembly, and both throttle cables.

I would start at the carb with the cables and get that all set first, then move to the handlebar.  You want to do the coarse adjustment at the carb side and the fine adjustment (take up the remaining slack) at the handlebar.  It does take a little back and forth to get things just right.

Damn Snoop. Do I have to come over to your house to help you fix this stuff so you can quit missing all this fine riding I've been setting up with DRNT on the weekends?

heh, I've been trying desperately to get my Magna working again so I can go out and ride with ya'll, but unfortunately my motorcycle mechanic skills are deficient.  But if you're willing to help then call me.

Yeah, so Smoked U came over and we got the throtle cables and both switch assemblies hooked up, but now the bike wont start.  It was running before, but isn't now.  Smoked U thinks it's an ignition problem.  He even sprayed carb cleaner directly into the carbuerator horns, but no joy.

Do you have a spark, does it try to fire, backfire?

Ha!  I doubt it was his fault.  This bike was *very* sick when I got it, and I'm probably just *not* done ferreting out some of its deep hidden problems.

I think the aft starboard cylinder was sparking, but not sure about the aft port side.  I don't think we checked the fore cylinders for spark.

It sometimes sounds like it's trying to fire, barely, perhaps from just one cylinder.

It does *not* backfire.

I went over with a handful of wrenches to finish up a cable job and got blindsided by what I believe is going to prove to be an ignition issue once it is debugged.

We didn't even have a socket to pull a spark plug, no test light and worst of all, no shop manual for diagnostics. Magna would only fire a cylinder once in several revolutions. I am suspecting an intermittent ignition problem.

No sense trying to do neurosurgery with a spoon. I hate electrical problems.

Snoop & I will attempt this fix soon with proper equipment and my Honda shop manual.
