Chain and sprockets replace

I ordered the Regina chain and sprocket kit from my local Honda dealer and had them install it.  I did not realize that the front sprocket was a 15 tooth instead if the OEM 16 tooth despite the listing saying the sprockets were OEM.

My rpms are about 200-300 rpms higher as could be expected. But when I looked at the wear indicated, it is close to the replacement mark. Is this also because of the sprocket?

I hope some of you guys that have replaced the front sprocket with the 15 tooth might have an answer.

The 15 will push back your wear indicator, how much, I am not sure...
I had the opposite issue, went to replace my chain then realized I had a 43 (instead of 40) rear sprocket. The chain would not reach... Had to order up a stock sprocket real fast to make the chain work...
I have a 15, 16,  and a 17 front sprocket... Pretty ez to swap them out for different events...

I ordered and installed a "kit" of two sprockets and a chain.  Was surprised to discover the front was 15 tooth.  Ran it for awhile, but it didn't "feel" right.  I guess running the stock setup had trained my ear to "know" speeds and shift points from the sound.  Also cut into my gas mileage a few mpg. Finally ordered a 16T for the front, and like it much better.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.  For the life of me I don't understand why you would not put original size sprockets in a kit.  Oh well, its on me for not paying attention.

I think I will run it for a while to see how I like it and how much it affects my mileage. I haven't had it over 55 but did notice it was buzzier and that might not be desireable on a longer ride.  The extra pep off the line is nice but I am not sure I want to trade gas mileage for it.

DID came out with kits, I will look them up now and see what they have, if anything.

Edit - DID does not appear to have a kit for the Magna

Yea, I think there used to be several kits and DID had one (if memory serves me) but there seems to be only one now.  Guess the kits didn't go over so well.

Went by the dealer and asked what they would charge me to put on a 16 and he said nothing, even though I took full responsibility for the screw up. And they only charged me $214 for the kit (found them on ebay for +/-  $ 200) and $50 to install it.  I buy my tires from them and while I pay a little more, they treat me fairly, at least I think.   Gotta love a dealer like that.

I got my D.I.D. "kit" directly from Terry ... of course I had to knock two links off the chain but it all worked out quite well and didn't cost any more than the Regina kit listed here

Did it have a 15 or 16 tooth front sprocket?   The reason I ask is because there is a DID kit on eBay and it has a 15 tooth sprocket. Again, why not put original size sprockets in the kits?

I did leave that out now didn't I ... Since D.I.D. doesn't have a kit for the Magna, Terry put one together for me using SunStar sprockets in the stock gearing (16/40).  He even set up a special link for me to add the sprockets as they weren't up yet on his web site (http://cli-maxridinggear.com).

OK. Thanks    There are DID kits in eBay (maybe old stock) but they have 15/40 sprockets

According to the DID website DID does not have a kit for the Magna, the kits that do contain a 15/40 sprocket combo have shorter/wrong size chains.

Their 16/40 combo has a shorter chain also and not to mention if the sprockets would fit the Magna.

Well, that makes it even easier now doesn't it.  There's really very little reason to purchase a prepackaged "kit".
