Hoot, I have no experience with floorboards, so I can only restate the obvious.  If the edge of the floorboard extends lower or further from the frame than the pegs do, then, yeah, they will drag sooner.

For some reason, I thought you had floor boards on one of your bikes..
Like I said, I do like them, but not if they reduce my lean angle..
I've thought about adapting some floor boards to mount over my existing pegs (hose clamps I think)
With some mod to some floorboards I have yet to find..

Looking at the floorboards that you have on there look like they came off of a goldwing. I used to have floorboards on a bike I bought from Bob Barram they were cobra floorboards and I can never remember draging them, but they looked smaller than the ones you have.

Why was the tank coated in the first place?

IIRC acetone is what some used to lift/limber/dissolve the coating than you pull out the pieces the best you can, I would have to check on this again with the vintage guys.

I don't know why it was coated, other than the bike sat for a while..

I have a venting issue with the tank anyways.. SO, I'm thinking I may have to cut the tank open to fix the vent issue.. While it's open, I can put heavy craft paper over the top of the tank and put the tank in our media blaster at blast away all of the crème. Then Decide if it still needs coating or not..
IF it does, I can coat the whole top part of the tank while it's still open, making sure the vent is clear..
Then have the tank re-welded, then I can just crème the bottom of the tank to seal any pin holes in the welding.
Am I thinking correctly on this??
I purchased a inspection camera today and it should be here in a couple of days.. Then I should be able to have a better idea of what is going on in there..

I am thinking when you coat the tank, you want one seamless bladder, I don't know how well the different coatings will meld together. I would have to search with my spare tank but think if the vent tube is blocked it could possibly be corrected without opening up the tank.

The vent tube is NOT blocked.. While the tank had fuel in it, I blew into the vent tube with a compressor. The air came out, but it was bubbling the gasoline like the tube was below the fuel level.
The tank has a hole drilled in it's neck, so the air should just come out of the vent tube and head for the neck hole. I then drained the tank to where the fuel was below the neck collar, and the same bubbling happened.
This all started because the bike died, and when I removed the gas cap, there was notable pressure relief (or vacuum release) as the cap came off..

as for the coating.. IF the top of the tank looks good after blasting, I may not need to coat it at all.
But I would think I need to coat the bottom due to the welding, as a precaution anyways..

I posted this on the FB page, but not sure everyone sees that..
Blackie pestered me for days to take another trip to the country.
I tried to ignore her pleas, but you know how women are, so I finally gave in..

Not only did I have to cheat on 'Ol Red, but I had to steal her tank to make it happen..
I feel so dirty!!

BTW - anyone know the #1 cattle state???

OK..
I got my new camera, and I'm glad I did..

Below are some shots.. IF anyone has seen inside of a Honda fuel tank, your input would be helpful..
It appears to me that the vent tube leads to a metal sub-compartment. To me it looks like this sub-compartment has been compromised with rust and has several holes where there should be none..

Video MAY show things best... Let me know if you can't get the video up..

Let me know if you see things differently than I do..

See the bottom for conclusion...

This looks like where the vent tube goes into the sub compartment

Conclusion.. I think the answer is a new tank..
I can get one for under $425 plus shipping.. More than I hoped to spend, but I think is the only option.

Someone please disagree with me!!!

Wish I could disagree, Hoot, but that tank is S-H-O-T!

Check ronayers.com and honda-partsdirect.com for OEM parts. You might even want to search for the part number too, but generally those sites are consistently the lowest.

You're lucky it's a solid color. The multi-colored tanks from the C2 models are nearly extinct. When you get a chance, cut open the creamed tank and post some reference photos so we know what a tank looks like on the inside.

So, I ordered it, I'll have it Monday...

I was thinking about cutting the old one in half length ways and see if I can make a wall hanger out of it... The outside is near perfect..

I have a parts tank that is completely beat up on the top but I think the bottom is in good shape. I couldn't tell from your images but is the messed up part on the top half or the bottom half?

Maybe it could still be saved?
