Fouled plug

I think I have fouled a plug on my 97,and my tool pouch doesn't have a spark plug socket so can anyone tell me what size socket fits the 97? I'm afraid to start sticking sockets down in that deep a hole for fear of getting the socket stuck if it's the wrong size. thanks

18mm maybe? Since I don't have a 3G Magna I can't be for sure.

Charles, I use a Craftsman 5/8" spark plug socket with built in u-joint. The u-joint is not necessary on the back plugs but it is a lifesaver on the front ones. The u-joint does make it more difficult to start the plug when you're putting it back in though.

Having said that, the Honda tool kit socket works very well on any of the plugs especially when it comes to starting them. It may be worth your while to pick one up. I've actually started using it with a small racheting wrench and like it better than the u-joint plug socket. It's much easier to use on the front plugs than sticking a big ratchet in all that stuff.

Thanks guys , I have a flexable extension works good after the plugs is broke loose. The spark plug hole just looks so deep I was afraid I'd get the wrong size socket stuck, thanks again for the help

BTW a tank of gas, a can of Sea Foam and a little sunshine and she cleared right up! So I'm going to put off the plug change untill I come up to Frisco and let you or Jeff take it out and blow the soot out of it for me.

Glad to hear you got it going Charles. I'll defer to Bob since he rides faster than I do.  You got any racing slicks to put on that thing so we can take it to the track?

I guess we could make it slick if we worked at it! . Ok so we'll let Bob blow the soot out of it and you can put some wear on the side of the tires so I won't get laughted at when folks see that little narrow wear pattern on them now. LOL  PS, I'm headed over that way in the near future so don't plan on running off..
