Hello All,
After adding an '02 Magna to go along with my '05 Concours I thought it would be  good idea to join MOOT.  I'm also a member of COG ( Concours Owners Group), so I know how valuable these forums can be. So far, I love the Magna (even more, overall, than my Connie  :) ).

A couple of questions, if you will.
1.
I want to add a Givi top box but I can't seem to find a luggage rack for the Magna that is close to the approx. 10" by 10" flat surface area that is needed for Givi's universal adapter base plate.  My current rack tapers too much at the end to work.  Any thoughts?
2.
Good replacement tires?  The PO had just put on new OEMs but when these go I would like to upgrade.
3.
When I hit a bump, the light throttle action makes me jerk the throttle; just my bike or is it a common feature?

Thanks for any help and I really look forward to participating in MOOT.
Joe

Welcome, glad to have ya here as part of the MOOT forum!
OK on the luggage rack, sounds like you will have to alter or build one, I dont know of any that large.
On tires a lot of folks run the Metzelers.
The quick increase in throttle response is just the Magna saying "Hey open me UP!"  LoL.

1. Can you bolt a 10 x 10 aluminum plate between the luggage rack and the base plate?

2. Dunlop or Avon, and this is the last I'll say about tires in this thread.

3. Don't know how long or how you ride but maybe try riding with your arms a little looser?

Welcome aboard.
Even Magna owners from "down east" are welcome here :D

I've noticed that Magna's seem to become favorite rides of the guys with multiple bikes,  makes you say hmmmm

Greetings and welcome to the Texas Magna forum, from a Sandlapper from the great state of South Carolina! (Gotta love this forum and it's diversity, hehe).

1. Others have answered.
2. Dunlops for rain and stickier in the twisties, Metz for a mix of straight lines and twisties and for greatermileage.  Thus far is my experience the Dunlops stick very well in rain and tight turns and what other's opinions seem to be.
3.  "You know I can go faster, right?" hehe

Hi,
Thanks to all who responded and thanks for the info.  The Magna is my first cruiser (always had sport or sport/tourers) and I bought it because it was a little easier to use than my Connie for those shorter trips plus the price was a steal.  I never pictured myself as a cruiser rider but I really do like this bike (just taking some getting used to the light throttle action/ different riding position); actually I like this bike a lot  :)
Very impressive machine; I think I'm a cruiser convert.

Thanks for the welcome, Jerry. I look forward to participating in the forums and perhaps even making it to one of the MOOT Meets.

Hi Jeff,
The throttle thing might be the different riding position.  I've ridden for years but never on a cruiser; I'm probably just used to being positioned over the throttle rather than reaching out to it; sure I will adjust to it eventually.  Other than that minor issue, it really is a sweet ride.

Thanks Ken.  I bet it wasn't 44 degrees today in your neck of the woods like it was here down east... :)
