Hey guys:

I know we all know this bike b/c it was the competitor for the v65 Magna back in the 80s.  These are a really rare find because they were only made in 1 maybe 2 years?  Although the Madura was a tad bit slower than the V65 Magna, it did have shaft drive, hydraulic valves, and state of the art equipment for the time.

A local guy has one, and I'm thinking of checking it out.

Do you think its a viable option to restore it?

Thanks.

P.S. How much would you offer for it?

I've seen one of these.. I think it is a nice bike..
My issue is you know how your speedometer hunt has been... I think parts for this would be like that, except on ALL parts..
If it hasn't been ridden "in a while" it's probably been a few years.. This means you will need to clean out the carbs at minimum before you do anything..
Although you could probably pick this up for $750 or $800 and maybe make it a good bike... It doesn't seem to fit in to your present life plans... (moving to NY). So if you were to buy it.. It's likely to sit a while longer..
Important question to find out is why hasn't it been ridden lately.. what happened the last time he rode it that made it the last time it was ridden?? In otherwords.. What's wrong with it..

I think it is even better looking than the V65 (sorry guys), and for the right person with some $$$ to bring it back to life, it may be a worthy project.. But without some $$$, it's probably going to sit a lot more..

IMHO

Yeah Harry.

If I buy, i would buy it and put it in my garage in md.  Long term project.

I'm thinking $750 sounds fair.  It looks like its going to take a lot of work.

I've owned one, It might have been a tad bit slower than the 83  but it ain't a tab bit slower than anything else I've ever ridden, no offense to my Magna brothers but that includes the V-65. I would jump on one in a heart beat for that price if it runs and If my money tree hadn't died 8)..

Need more info and better photos, looks like a dent in the tank, thats 400 to fix and repaint, plus what else this might need.

"should fire up fairly easily."

Than he should fire it up, the deal is it won't unless you do what Hoot mentioned.

750 as you say plus 400 tank issues, plus tires, oil & fluid changes, no telling about rust, chrome condition etc.

W/O a lot more info, 500.00.

Just curious, for a while Suzuki made a touring model called the Cavalcade, intended to compete with the GoldWing, Venture, etc.  Does anyone know if it used this engine? I know Yamaha used a hopped-up version of the Venture motor to put in the VMax, just wondering if Suzuki might have done the same.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. For reading it in English, thank a veteran.
Age is a state of mind, I'm way past 60, going on 24.

Not sure about Suzuki, but I have an 83 Venture that came from the factory with 97 hp. Like the Magna they only did it one year then dropped the hp the next year. I've been tempted to try and stuff the V-four Venture motor in a lighter cruiser frame, Yes I know I can just buy a V-Max, but I don't like the looks, anyway to much work I'll never get passed the wishing stage  :-(.. I'll be lucky if I take the time to paint it and put it back together like it is..

The guy's name is Coy and he rides it regular, they are about bullet proof. I painted it that metallic yellow back in about 1998, not my favorite color but the previous owner picked it and I guess Coy likes it. I think if it were mine I might paint it, oh I don't know maybe red

I remember Coy got himself caught in a bad passing situation on the way back and had to open it up. Man! That thing could flat move!
I'd rather be outside than in.
