Bike Has A Miss

O.K. after having sat since March I finally was able to pull the bike out and clean it up in hopes that I would be cleared to ride soon. I fired it up and noticed a miss, had my neighbor run it around the block and he said it bogs real bad on the low-end and was missing. So I felt the pipes and cylinder #3 was only warm and the others were hot.
When I put the bike up, I filled the tank and put Sta-bil in as well as the seafoam that is normally in the tank.
First thing I will do is check the plugs to see if #3 is fouled, if not that I figure a cleaning of the carbs is in order,so the question is how hard is that to do, I am comfortable working on the bike so just wondering.

I'm sure others will chime in, but Greg for sure knows a lot about this..
It's not that hard of a job, but I've never actually pulled the carbs.. They come off as one unit and it's not that hard once you get the air cleaner off, etc..
Like I said, others will chime in, but if you are comfortable with wrenching, it's within your ability to get-R-done.

#3?????  Cylinders are numbered as you sit on the bike, left side rear head is # 1, is this the pipe that is not hot like the others?

Usually is the first to clog the slow speed jet..

It is actually the right rear head, the spark plug wire said 3 so that is what I was going on, somewhere I have the manual to work on it and I definitely have the time till I get released back to work.

I just cleaned and rejetted the carbs on my '96, following the instructions on the web site (posted by Greg some years ago!)  It took ole shaky hands slow poke here about 4 hours round trip.  I used the Dave Dodge kit, and his instructions are a good supplement to Greg's.  The only thing I noticed that might need an update is that the screws that attach the carb bowls are 8mm, not 6mm.  It only takes about 2 seconds to figure this out, however, so it is not an issue at all.

The results are quite gratifying.  I am not a performance guru, but the bike now performs very nicely.

You should take Jerry up on this, I just did this exact thing last Saturday with Greg and Jerry coaching me - not the most difficult thing to do, but these guys have done it enough they know all the ins and outs as well as possible pitfalls. We did it in about three hours, I bet if I tried to do it solo it would have taken all day. Having somebody there that has done it makes a world of difference.

I presume your bike was re-jetted when the pipes were added.. How is it running??
Low end??
Mid Range??
High End??
Decel pop??

Not sure, the pipes were on the bike when i bought it, it does have the decel pop and falls flat in the midrange when I jump on it, so what do you think I could use? not knowing what jets or anything else I am not really sure, but will listen to all the knowledgeable folks on here, I figure will put a K&N while I have it apart, also I am thinking about trying to change back to stock exhaust as the ones that are on here are LOUD.

You need to decide what the end game is, then people like Greg and others can advise you as to what the proper set up might be for the end game..

My wife likes loud exhaust, might be willing to do some swapping depending on what you have.

Hoot-that would make sense, right now I would think stock exhaust  with a K&N filter, as the end game is just a good running bike, I think the performance is pretty good as I am not really looking for a hotrod.
