After using the "4x4 under the swingarm" technique a few times I decided that it was more worry than it was worth.  Called Cyclistic today and ordered the stand and the V4 backrest emblem (along with my 10% MOOT discount   ).  BTW, I've sold my Concours; my Magna is a more overall competent bike than the Connie and I wasn't riding it much anymore.  I'm a true Magna convert  :)

mainerider, I had the same feeling using the 4x4, so I cut the swingarm support out of a 6x6 and it's a lot more stable and a lot less worrisome.

The 4x4 is quite stable, I have pulled the rear wheel and left the bike on it for over 24 hours.
However I completely understand that you must feel comfortable about its stability!

I think part of the problem was the sloped garage floor; I had a hard time keeping the 4x4 level on the floor.  It always seemed tipped out, either towards or away from the bike when I raised the bike up onto it.  we'll see how well the stand works and I'll post a review (probably done before, I'm sure).

I probably should have tried that but with the center stand in-transit... Thanks though.
