Just out of curosity did you break the tire back down to make that none of the dyna beads accidently ended up between the tire bead and the rim?

Superbowl break, I understand. I have a friend who throws a hunters Superbowl party each year where all the game shot by the hunters are cooked, grill, bacon wrapped, etc. from around the world. What a feast, Deer, Elk, Pheasant, Dove, and the list goes on, made into chili, kabobs, stuffed about anyway you can imagine.

Come on Terry.. I think you are even selling yourself a little short here.. .You probably have more than "a friend"!!! Someone on this forum would probably consider you their friend, even if they wouldn't type it as evidence!!!

BTW .. Is the above considered an invite to your friend's house for next years Superbowl party???

Charles, The beads are small enough, I wouldn't overly worry about a bead or two getting stuck in the tire bead area.. But the answer to you question so far is I have not broken the bead on the tire and removed the dyna beads (too many "beads" in this sentence!!!). but I will.

My neighbor invited me over for the game and some venison chili. So I went over at halftime for some Chili.

We had 2 different chilis, one was Elk and tasty, the other I never made it to.

Hoot, I hope I have lots of friends for sure, maybe some varying degrees of how well I know them even some in FL I never met!

Now quit trying to shirk the conversation and back to beading YOUR tire!

I know Terry is sitting at home wondering about my car tire... I'm working on it now.. Instead of going to the Plant City bike night.. I had to go to a funeral this morning..
I will update more later today as to how things went...

I bought a couple of tire irons from Harbor Freight.. They are normally $12 but were on sale for $5.. I also bought some rubber dip. I dipped the irons in (I covered the tips and removed the covers, so they wouldn't have rubber on them..)
I removed the tire, washed out the tire to remove all the WD-40. I salvaged as many Dyna beads as I could, washed those out too.. (hey there ceramic so they should be nearly indestructible.)
One of the things I did was polish the rims where the tire slides up to the seat. These are machined, but not polished so there are small ribs in the aluminum.. by polishing these, I believe it made it easier for the tire to slide up on to the seat.. (Hey, I can believe it if I wish..)

Bing!!! Break out the Champagne!!! I finally got both sides to seat..
According to the cheap dial gauge on the Pancake compressor I borrowed, ~115 lbs, I got one side to seat.
let the air out re-RuGlyded the other side... and got it to pop at about 115- 117 lbs..
I will post a couple of pictures Monday..

Off to put in Dyna Beads, so I can get the tire back on the bike... Yea!!!!

I WAS wondering when you would get around to the tire and resisted bugging you further, about to post last night but thought I would give it a bit longer.  A week to seat a tire, you could have been here and back before than. I would be ashamed to come and post that.  :-P :-P Must have been the polishing huh or just maybe the Ruglyde.

The main thing is you have it seated and Now have a new tire on and a car tire at that!

So what do you think? Are you through drinking champagne where you can go in a parking lot for a wobbly driving test?

Took the bike out for a quick test ride.. - chain was a little to tight, so came back and loosened it a bit.. Took it out again, got it up to 75, smooth as a bowling ball.. I does handle a little different, but that is expected.. Presently running 40 PSI.. (max pressure 44 PSI- 10%). I'll run it there for a few days..

BTW.. have a secret for getting Dyna beads into the tire.. (Especially if you have a right hand bend fill valve).
Take the clear tube that is supplied with the bottle from Dyna Beads... remove valve core.. screw the tube onto the fill valve. Fill the tube about 1/2 full (a couple of inches worth) with the bottle, then take a bulb (turkey baster type - I used a Radiator fluid tester that I had) put it on the end of the tube and exercise the bulb drawing the beads up and down.. a few times of this and the beads are all in.. repeat.. This works much better than the vibration technique suggested..
