Terry,

It may be overkill, but I like to get the best for my money.  Can you explain the difference in the two?

The 530-120 ZVM2 would be 159.00 delivered.

The other VM is by far the more popular chain, it moves 20-1 over this chain, not sure why, maybe price.

Pulled the carbs last night to change the jets, but had quite a hard time getting them off.  After talking with chad today about how difficult it was, he said I should have warmed up the bike first.  It was 43 degrees in my garage and I never even thought about it.  Today I went to put them back on and it was still below 50 degrees, so I borrowed my daughters blow dryer and used that to heat up the boots.  It was still a bear getting them installed.  Anyway, I got it done and hopefully the weather will stay nice and I'll get it back on the dyno on Tuesday night and see where I'm at.  I also changed the plugs and they all looked fine.  I can't tell much of a difference in how it runs, but am still having pooping on decel when it gets below 4000 rpm.

We posted within minutes of each other, I missed this question, the Z chain has a tensile strength over 10K whereas the VM is 9700.

Looks like your chain will be delivered today.

Don't want to be behind you on a fast ride.
I'd rather be outside than in.

Being a world class Mrs.-speller myself,  I know where you're coming from. I've noticed it always helps to have some smart-alack point it out to you, completely missing the point of the post.
Just doing my part.

Terry,
Got the chain today, boy that was fast.  Shipping weight on the package said 7 lbs, and on the invoice it said 6.8 lbs.  Reading the direction it says that you need to lubricate the o-rings on the master link with a grease bag.  Since I work for a Japanese owned company I interpret the translation was meaning to use the bag of grease that came in the box, and hope it was not a personal comment about me.

And a Fine looking chain at that! I love pulling new stuff out of boxes, thanks for the weight. Do you have the tools to put the chain on with and stake the rivets?

Yes I do.  It's the one that Chad borrowed to put on his new chain and had trouble with because it really didn't come with very clear instructions on how to use it.

I destroyed my first chain break tool by trying to push staked rivets out with it.  Paid a bundle for a new (herkier) one, and was determined not to let it go the same way.

Soooo, I took a body grinder and ground off the staked ends of the two rivets I needed to push out, then pushed from the ground off side.  Could grind off the heads, too, if that is easier.  Makes the whole process a piece of cake.

BTW, Harbor Freight now has a pretty herky looking chain break tool for up to 530 chain for a much lower price than I paid for mine.  I think it was under $20.  I am getting stronger willed, as I resisted the urge to buy it :P.  I mean, I already have one, right?  I am a sucker for a low price, for sure  .

On something like this Lawrence, the quality of steel used could be of less strength than what you have.

I just plan to remove my old chain with a bolt cutter or torch and use the chain tool to restake the new chain.

Certainly a possibility, Terry.  I would take it back if it bent or broke on first use.  In any case, if you grind off the ends of the rivets before you push on 'em, even a lesser tool should suffice.  If the anvil is hard enough to stake the new rivets, then it should work fine.

If I were starting over, I would start with the HF unit.  It looks just like the expensive one I have.  Probably a Chinese copy...

Yeah, it's easier on any of the tools if you grind the end of the rivet, no matter what the tool cost, IMHO..

Y'all didn't know I had a HO, did ya  :D :D :D..
