I see there are discussions on trikes but nothing on if a 750 Magna or any Magna would hold up to to the extra weight plus luggage and riding 2up.

Ive seen other articles that say no it would work a 750 to much go with 1100 or bigger and ive seen pictures of 750 Magna triked but no info on if its singlr rider or 2up , or are they caring and type of lugagage or extra weight.

Your thoughts on this.

There are reported trike kits for these bikes.

I would never trike anything with a kit that was not equipped with independent rear suspension components, period.

Horsepower for this application would be a serious consideration as well. The vast majority of trikes appear to be larger displacement power plants and with good reason.
You are not paid for what you do, but rather for what you will do and when that time comes, you will be highly underpaid.

Yes i agree. there are 3 different actual trike kits for it independent or straight axle, but yes engine displacement is the big thing.  I will probably buy a trike for 2up and keep the Magna for solo riding.

Thanks for your reply.

I've seen a Honda Shadow 750 triked, but it was a one person bike primarily. The Magna will put down more horsepower than the Shadow and probably the 1100 vtwins. Of course it will outrun the VTX 1800 in the 1/4 mile (barely) but by the time you start adding the extra weight of the trike and baggage the Magna's horsepower to weight ratio changes and it will lose its uniqueness.

Having ridden bicycle trikes and even recumbent trikes I have found they are very easy to roll. I would not ride a motorized trike or tour on it for that reason. I would probably try out one of those Can Am Spyders in lieu of a trike because I believe they're supposed to overcome the rolling tendency.

Or even better, in my humble opinion... If you're looking for something that gives the open road feel, but with more stability and balance, and make it easier on two people, you can't beat a Mazda Miata. I own a turbo version. You can pick up various clean Miata models for $6,000 to $8,000 or more if you want. And I know trikes and trike kits usually cost more than that.

Its obvious that Magnaman dosent like trikes thats ok i dont like miatas.  :)
the other info is what i was looking for thank you for that.

If you did a trike you could re-gear the Magna and probably be alright, as Jesse said you would lose the uniqueness of the Magna. But hey, I like seeing people do different things with their creative juices.

Bring one to the next MootMag so we can all see it.

Don't knock the Miata until you've been in one running through an auto cross or a road course. ;-)  There's a reason why it is the most raced car in history.

I got to ride in one where the other sports cars drivers were running the course in 55 seconds and this Miata driver was running 38 seconds. I knew it was going to be a wild ride when we hit a tight 180 degree turn (about 4-5 lanes wide) at 40 mph and kept accelerating through it and then pulled into the slalom. Instead of weaving between the cones he headed straight for them just notching the steering at the last second so the Miata would just jump right around them. Phenomenal handling...

It was the Miata that got me into motorcycling. But they are still two different experiences. However if you take away the two wheeled aspect and corner leaning of the motorcycle then you are closer to a roadster only with more protection. That's why I suggested it. It sounded like you  have a passenger that's pushing for a trike because they have some concerns about comfort or handling or stability.

Or I can put it this way... The riders I know that retired two wheels for three slowed down. The ones that retired two wheels for turbocharged 4 wheels sped up... or at least were able to maintain the same speeds.

Point well taken
I do work on miata's setting then up for racing. I personally have not driven one but sounds like fun. I do Have a Gasser and a Roadster but niether one is made for fast corners.

yes your write about passenger looking for less lean and more comfort. thats why i was looking towards making it into a trike, im thinkg i will keep it to ride solo and possibly buy a trike for when i take the passenger.
