I've ridden mine for a year now with no windshield.  I ride 25mi a day communting on 35W.  On a windy day it's not much fun, but it sure works out your neck muscles!

I just ordered the National Cycle Deflector shield, and I'm hoping to have it on by this weekend.  I really wanted it for the longer rides, +45minutes or so.  I plan on taking it back of for daily stuff.

I forget who said it, but it's a great quote:

"If I wanted a windshield, I'd drive my truck."

Has anyone tried the Memphis -Santa Cruz?  I know they say it does not work on the Magna, but it looks good in the picture on their website.  Can it be mounted to not touch the tank if the handlebar is fully turned? I was wanting something that covered the hands and went lower than the Malibu mainly for winter but also for those south Texas butterflies.

I never see Magna Deluxe fairings on bikes I see out and about but I added the Laminar Lip (  http://www.laminarlip.com/magna.php)  to mine and it really creates a nice air pocket if anyone wants to add more protection to a Deluxe.

Sportbike and touring.... two bikes in one.

Do you have any pictures with the Laminar Lip on?  The one they have had on the site is pretty crappy but I have always been intrigued by it.  I have a Deluxe fairing that I used for a couple of months but the windblast beat me down and I put the Pop Top back on.

I'll take a picture of the fairing tonight with the lip.  The fairing is not currently on the bike but you should get a good idea of how it looks.

Here are a few Laminar Lip pictures.  I am hoping to get it painted soon and I will post some pics of it actually on the bike.

If anyone has come up with a unique or really cool paint job for one of these fairing I would like to see it.

Didn't you say you used bolts rather than the two sided tape or velcro they supply?

It came with two screws and nylon washers that replace the top two screws on the fairing and then the 3M Dual Lock tape holds the lower edge.  I have given it some pretty good road testing and get no vibration and the 3M tape feels really solid.  At highway speed it feels like a full windshield to me but I took it of the bike because my wife said it caused too much buffeting on her helmet as a passenger.
